WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama has just come out praising a test vote in the Senate supporting the compromise tax plan he negotiated with Republicans. Obama remarked in comments at the White House this afternoon that the vote shows both parties can work together.

WASHINGTON (AP) First Lady Michelle Obama has made a national campaign of fighting against childhood obesity. Now her husband, President Barack Obama, has gone her a step further by signing a law that will encourage providers of school lunches to make them more nutritious.

WASHINGTON (AP) The board of directors of the Warhol Foundation has voted to demand that a video by an artist that depicts ants crawling on a crucifix should be restored to an exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery. The video was removed from the show following complaints by a Catholic organization.

WASHINGTON (AP) The independent Washington bookstore Politics and Prose is looking for a new owner. Current owner Barbara Meade says many offers came in after an announcement in June of plans to sell the iconic store on Connecticut Avenue.
