Gray's Announcement Of Cabinet Picks On The Way

Play associated audio

D.C. Mayor-elect Vince Gray still hasn't said who will serve in his administration, but some of those key cabinet positions could be announced soon.

Gray says he will announce his picks this week, as early as Wednesday. A source in the Wilson Building says the announcement is slated for Wednesday afternoon.

Gray will likely answer some of the big questions that he has faced since winning the mayoral primary in September: Will he keep D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier or some of the other high-profile department heads, such as Gabe Klein, who runs the city's transportation department?

The roll-out of his cabinet picks will also demonstrate the direction Gray wants to take his administration. How many Fenty administration officials will there be? How many people from the Barry or Kelly administrations? Or will Gray look outside the District to fill some these key slots?

These questions could be answered as early as Wednesday.
