Prince George's Police Chief May Lose Job

It appears Prince George's County Police Chief, Roberto Hylton, will be out of a job come Monday. Reports say County Executive-elect Rushern Baker, who will be sworn in on Monday, has decided to let Hylton go. But the reports also say Baker has given no specific reason for the decision.

The move comes amid an ongoing federal probe into corruption in Prince George's that involves three county police officers among others.

Two of the officers are alleged to have facilitated a cigarette and alcohol smuggling operation. The other is accused of helping sell cocaine.

In a public comment on those arrests, Hylton said he was outraged by what he called the "disgraceful" conduct of the officers. After the arrests, U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein thanked Hylton for his and his department's help with the investigation.
