Environmental Literacy: Exposing D.C. Students To Nature

A new federal initiative called the No Child Left Inside Act is pushing states to teach students about the environment. So far the District has not secured funding to make environmental literacy part of the school curriculum. But as Julia Edwards reports, some educators and environmental policy makers are working on plans to put students in touch with the great outdoors without burdening teachers or taxpayers.

Julia Edwards' report is part of a collaboration between WAMU 88.5 News and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
