At a recent dinner party, Fred Fiske's friend posed a challenge to the group: "Can anybody here remember any couple in the past 20 years who hadn't lived together for at least a short while before marriage?" Nobody could. Fiske says his parents would have been "humiliated, his mother hysterical. But there's no shame, no embarrassment nowadays. The world has changed, and with it, so has the institution of marriage..."
