Woodson High School Wins The Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl

For more than four decades, D.C.'s best gridiron football teams have battled it out on Thanksgiving for bragging rights. Bragging rights this year go to H.D. Woodson High School.

Woodson defeated Dunbar 44-12 in the 41st annual Turkey Bowl. It was a hard-fought game. Both sides of the stadium were packed with fans. A number of local politicians were in attendance, including Mayor-elect Vincent Gray.

There was some controversy surrounding the game because another school, Ballou, forfeited its spot because one of its players had had his grades improperly changed but once kickoff started, that incident was quickly forgotten and it was a good game –- closer than the score suggests.
