Great Falls and the Mather Gorge have long been a scenic spot for hikers and picnickers. But peer out onto the Potomac itself and you might also catch some kayakers. For decades they've been coming here to tackle some of the most challenging rapids on the East Coast.

Recently WAMU's Rob Sachs geared up with a pro for a new kayaking adventure offered to those looking to wet their toes in the sport:
