"Art Beat" with Sabri Ben-Achour:
(Nov. 12-Dec. 19) SUPERIOR DONUTS The weekend's here, so you won't have to feel guilty about Superior Donuts playing today through Dec. 19 at The Studio Theatre in Northwest Washington. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts' latest production is set in a Chicago donut shop where a cantankerous white shop owner bonds with an ambitious black teenager over literature and entrepreneurship. There's comedic jelly in the middle.
(Nov. 12-13) HUBBART STREET DANCE CHICAGO And the Windy City has some additional business in the District this weekend. Hubbard Street Dance Chicago brings choreography that captures emotional nuance, it draws inspiration from international and American contemporary dance. You can check them out at the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater tonight and tomorrow.
(Nov. 14) THE SEASONS PROJECT North Bethesda's Strathmore Music Center enlists ace violinist Robert McDuffie and The Venice Baroque Orchestra to do justice to the ornate compositions of Baltimore's Phillip Glass and Venice's Antonio Vivaldi on Sunday. The Washington premiere of Glass' "The American Four Seasons" is presented alongside its influential reference point, Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons."
