Gray Says He Will Meet With Obama, GOP House Leaders

Vincent Gray, in his first press conference as mayor-elect, talked about two upcoming meetings: one with President Barack Obama--the two will have lunch in early December--and Gray says he will also reach out across the aisle to Republican House leaders, who now control the Congressional subcommittee that oversees the District.

Gray says he wants to tap into the Tea Party message by telling them he also wants the federal government to get out of state and local governments. In this case, he means giving the District more autonomy over its affairs—something the GOP hasn't always done in the past.
