Delaware Senate Race Heats Up At The Polls

UPDATE: AP reports that Democrat Chris Coons beats Republican Christine O'Donnell for Vice President Joe Biden's former Senate seat.

One of the most closely watched battles in today's election is the Delaware Senate race between Republican Christine O'Donnell and Democrat Chris Coons. At the polls, there has been spirited participation.

Delaware Election Commissioner Elaine Manlove tells the Associated Press O'Donnell supporters were so vehement in their demonstrations near a Dover polling spot, that three complaints were filed for noise and crossing the 50-foot perimeter from the polls.

In the southern end of the state, things are a little more low key, but there has been a steady stream of voters. Brett Conaway, who owns the nearby Dairy Queen, was one of them.

"Any attention is good attention, there is no such thing as bad publicity," Conaway says, "but hopefully, they'll concentrate on the goods of Delaware."

The winner will assume the seat left vacant by Vice President Joe Biden.
