Voter Turnout Efforts Could Make Or Break Election

Ahead of Tuesday's election it's all hands on deck in Virginia as local campaigns continue to rally last minute support.

This weekend Virginia House candidates pulled out the big names: Democratic Sen. Jim Webb stumped on Saturday and Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell came out on Sunday to a cheering crowd in Fairfax County.

But now it's all down to the ground game. Hundreds of volunteers are making appeals over the phone, with social media and in person. Incumbent 11th district Democrat Gerry Connolly says his get-out-the-vote program could make or break the outcome.

"If it is a close election every vote matters and you can't assume anything other than that. I've always run as if the devil were at my heels," Connolly says.

Republicans, like Connolly's opponent Keith Fimian, say their base is more excited this election and are predicting some big defeats on Election Day.
