Gas Leak In Gaithersburg

In Maryland, crews are working to repair a gas main leak on Route 355 in Gaithersburg.

Around 3 a.m. this morning, a construction crew struck a gas main here near the intersection of Route 355 and Professional Drive. No one was injured, but the resulting leak forced the closure of the northbound side of the road.

One lane of the northbound side has reopened between Travis Avenue and Professional Drive, and traffic is beginning to move as normal, though the northbound side in the morning is not the heavily traveled side of the road.

Firefighters checked to see if gas had leaked to neighboring buildings, and it has not, so businesses in the area that would be open at this hour are.
