Head to the busy crossroads of Florida and New York Avenues in Northeast D.C., and you'll find yourself at the Florida Avenue Wholesale Market, where more than 30 businesses cover seven square blocks of faded warehouses and industrial buildings.

The Market is celebrating its 80th anniversary, and developers are trying to make it DC’s newest hip destination. One sign on a vacant lot at Florida Ave and 4th Street Northeast reads, “Pretty soon, you won't recognize the place. Promise."

But as Jonna McKone reports, that's not sitting well with some local business owners.
