Christine O’Donnell’s big win in Delaware has overshadowed some other interesting results in and around the Delmarva peninsula.

O’Donnell won the Republican primary for Vice President Joe Biden’s vacant senate seat in Delaware, as she upset 30-year veteran and two time former governor Mike Castle with 53 percent of the vote.

The tea party candidate will now face Democrat Chris Coons in November.

In Maryland’s 38th district, things were a bit less anti-climactic as delegate and former Ocean City mayor Jim Mathias breezed to victory in his democratic primary, which now sets up an interesting race between he and republican candidate Michael James, who Mathias defeated in the 2006 delegate race.

Maryland’s House Appropriations Chairman and veteran delegate Norm Conway also easily won his primary and will be joined by Berlin mayor Gee Williams on the Democrat side, while Pocomoke mayor Mike McDermott and Marty Pusey earned Republican nominations in district 38B.
