Later this morning, PEPCO leaders will defend their performance following recent storms before the Maryland Public Service Commission.
The hearing comes after leaders from both the state and Montgomery County decried the length of time it took PEPCO to restore power following thunderstorms on July 25th.
A spokesman for the utility called their response to the storm "remarkable", noting PEPCO restored power to nearly 300-thousand people within a week. Leaders like governor Martin O'Malley and Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett were not as impressed, with Leggett saying the storms exposed the fact that PEPCO does not have the proper infrastucture to respond quickly to storms.
O'Malley likened the utility's reliability in storms to that of what is seen in developing countries. The hearing starts at 9:30 in Baltimore.
