Campaign Signs: What Do They Say About The Candidates?

Yard signs dotting D.C. are perhaps the most visible 'sign' there's a political campaign underway.

Yard signs dotting lawns and windows in the District are perhaps the most visible 'sign' there's an election coming up. Especially ubiquitous are those of Mayor Adrian Fenty and Council Chairman Vincent Gray. While the signs' messages may seem straightforward, their design could offer some insight into what the candidates are communicating and how they're saying it. WAMU's Kavitha Cardoza spoke to Robb Springfield, former head of the Graphic Design department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He analyzed the signs as an outsider, and has not been following the campaign.
