HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) A man faces the scheduled start of try today in Harrisonburg, accused of aiding his brother in a 2006 jailhouse escape that led to two slayings. Michael Morval is charged with conspiring to help his brother William Morval escape from jail in August 2006.

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) The Small Business Administration is making up to $2 million in loan money available for nonprofit groups and small businesses in southeastern Virginia that were hit hard by a November nor'easter. But the businesses must apply before Aug. 25 to be eligible for the low-interest loans.

NORGE, Va. (AP) Investigators say a fatal train-car collision in James City County was the second such collision at the private crossing in three weeks. Authorities say an elderly Virginia woman died when the Amtrak train collided with her car Saturday and the train couldn't continue on to Newport News.
