Saturday is National Dance Day in the district and across the nation.

Greg Peppers reports.

The National Dance Day event here in the district is being hosted by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

She introduced a resolution to officially recognize July 31st as National Dance Day and to promote physical fitness across the U.S.

That's in keeping with the First Lady's "Let's Move" campaign.

The special guests at today's event on the National Mall include Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer of the tv show "So You Think You Can Dance. "

The event will feature performances by area dance schools but spectators will be encouraged to join in.

The Dance Day event will take place on the Mall between 3rd Street and Madison Drive, NorthWest and it gets under way at 3pm. Greg Peppers WAMU 88.5 News.
