Stars on the Avenue kicks off tonight with When Harry Met Sally at 9 o'clock sharp in the Woodmont Triangle. The lights, camera, and action continue with The Maltese Falcon, Sherlock Holmes, The Blind Side, and Chicago.

(July 27) HERZIG IN THE HOUSE Meanwhile, Colorado's Katie Herzig puts a little funk in folk rock. With a proclivity for infectious melodies and instrumental flourishes, her light soprano sound sweeps over the Iota Club & Cafe at 8:30 p.m. in Arlington, Virginia.

(July 28-August 21) FUNCTIONAL INDUSTRY Or, if you fancy the functional, northeast D.C.'s Industry Gallery has the art exhibit for you. Getting to Now: Pathways to 21st Century Design shows Wednesdays through Saturdays until late August. The gallery is fully furnished with a dozen works by nine diverse artisans challenging the boundaries of international design.
