Water Woes Continue For Some Maryland Residents

Mandatory water restrictions continue today for residents of Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland.

It's going to be hot today, but residents in the affected communities still can't water their lawns or top off their swimming pools. Officials say that emergency repairs on a water main in Potomac will be completed today. Even so, a spokesperson for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says residents still need to conserve water.

Takoma Park Maryland resident Susan Strasser says that shouldn't be a big deal.

"People in California and Arizona are entirely accustomed to water restrictions and we're fortunate not to have to live that way most of the time," says Strasser.

Water usage is down about 14 percent, but that falls short of the WSCC's 30 percent goal.
