Running For a Cure is a Holiday Tradition In Potomac Maryland

More than 2000 people from the Metro area will kick off their holiday weekend in Potomac, Maryland, tomorrow, and it's all for a good cause.
One in every 110 American children have been diagnosed with some form of Autism.
For the past nine years the National Capital Area chapter of Autism Speaks has hosted a 5K Run to fund research for a cure.
Event Director Susan Perles says they've raised more than one hundred seventy five million dollars in the past decade.
"It's very very heartwarming to see not only families with children affected, but to see neighbors and friends come out and we have Congressman Van Hollen joining us and its wonderful just to see people kicking off their holiday in such a great way," she says.
Perles adds that the event has become a real community tradition.
The Autism Speaks 10th annual 5K Run kicks off at the Potomac Library tomorrrow morning at eight.
