D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee has begun her fourth year as head of DCPS.

D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee has begun her fourth year as head of DCPS.

D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee is just beginning her fourth year on the job. She was appointed by D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty when he took control of the District's school system in 2007.

Rhee has made sweeping changes, from laying off teachers to negotiating a new union contract. Now school reform is one of the central issues of this year's mayoral race.

Fenty's opponent, Council Chairman Vincent Gray, has not said whether he would keep Rhee on if elected.

The future of D.C. Public Schools has been an unknown in the race. WAMU's Kavitha Cardoza sat down with Rhee and asked for her perspective...
