ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Maryland Rep. Frank Kratovil is officially running for re-election.

The freshman Democrat filed his candidate paperwork Monday in Annapolis at the Board of Elections. Kratovil made several weekend campaign stops in his district, including a visit to the Chesapeake Exploration Center on Kent Island Saturday, as well as Salisbury City Park.

Kratovil narrowly beat Republican Sen. Andy Harris in 2008 to represent Maryland's First District, which includes the Eastern Shore, plus parts of Baltimore, Harford and Anne Arundel counties. The two are expected to face off again this November if they each win their September party primaries.
