During the Lincoln bicentennial last year, museums, cultural centers and historic sites celebrated the 16th President. But the man in the stovepipe hat remains on the minds of those who work at Ford’s Theatre, the place where Lincoln spent his last moments watching a play.
A new center is opening in the Ford’s Theatre district, downtown on 10th Street between E and F Streets Northwest - - the Ford's Theatre Education and Leadership Center. Directors say it will tell the story of the assassination and place new emphasis on Lincoln the leader.
