Fans lined up early this morning outside the Nationals Park in southeast D.C., hoping to get tickets to watch superstar Stephen Strasburg make his major league debut tonight.
Michael Kennedy is first in line and brought along magazines and snacks for the long wait. This baseball fan says he couldn't imagine not being around to see Strasburg, the 21-year-old, $15 million pitching prospect take the mound and throw one of his 100 mile-an-hour fastballs.
"It's awesome," he says, "you see it coming out of his hand but you don't really see it until it pops into the glove."
Kennedy says its been a roller coaster ride for Nationals fans over the past years. Recently though, he says its been more down than up. But Kennedy says that's changing.
"Not with the new Phenom coming in," he says. "We should be rising to the top real soon!"
The Washington Nationals will play the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at 7 p.m.
