There are a number of walks getting underway across the D.C. area this morning. But one will look a little bit different: many of the participants in this walk will be on four legs.
Blumont Park in Arlington, Virginia is the scene for today's Walk for the Animals.
"We are expecting about 500 walkers and 300 dogs," says Lisa Kirsher, of the Arlington Animal Welfare League. "There's two options: there's a 1-mile stroll and a 3-mile walk. There's also fun demonstrations we're going to have-- an agility demonstration and hopefully the Marines are going to come this year to do a demonstration."
Kirsher says the walk will help fund services for the dozens of animals waiting to be adopted at the shelter, and for the community as well.
