Several construction projects are underway this week as part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, and they're affecting traffic on the Capital Beltway.
Contractors at the Beltway's Telegraph Road interchange will be demolishing bridge piers and paving portions of ramps beginning today. Commuters should expect lane and ramp closures.
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, both the Inner and the Outer Loops will be narrowed to two lanes between the Metro overpass and the Beltway Bridge over Cameron Run.
During those hours, Telegraph Road North will be down to one lane between Huntington Avenue and Pershing Avenue and the ramp from Telegraph Road North to the Outer Loop will be closed for paving operations.
The work is scheduled outside the morning and evening rush hours, but there will be overnight demolition projects this week as well. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
