Maryland Gets $20 Million In Energy Efficiency Grant

Maryland is getting a $20 million energy efficiency grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. Vice President Joe Biden announced that 25 communities, government and nonprofit groups have been selected to receive part of $452 million in stimulus funding to speed up energy efficiency building retro-fit projects.

The grant is going to Maryland's Department of Housing and Community Development. State leaders hope to target individual households, multi-family rental properties and commercial properties for energy-efficiency retro-fits.

Maine, Michigan, Missouri and New Hampshire are getting similar statewide grants.
