In Virginia, the Arlington County Board has found a new county manager, bringing a native of Northern Virginia back home to do the job.
County Board Chairman Jay Fisette announced today that Michael Brown, currently the city manager of Savannah, Georgia, will fill the position.
Brown has served in Savannah for 15 years, overseeing the merge of the area's city and county police departments.
He also worked to sustain a 27 percent property tax rate reduction in the city over the past 10 years.
Arlington's previous county manager, Ron Carlee, who had served in the position since 2001, left the post in October to take a job with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).
Brown and his wife are natives of Prince William County.
Lee Calhoun, a former associate of the D.C. businessman at the center of a wide-ranging investigation into D.C. corruption, is said to have made campaign contributions in the names of other people.
