By David Schultz

Metro has found an acting general manager to replace outgoing G.M. John Catoe.

Sources tell WAMU that the Metro Board of Directors will appoint Richard Sarles to lead the transit agency, who is the former executive director of the New Jersey transit system.

Sarles will be appointed Thursday, sources say, but exactly when he’ll take over hasn’t been determined.

He'll succeed John Catoe, who announced his resignation earlier this year. The announcement came after a string of fatal accidents in the Metro system.
