For the first few decades of his musical career, Michael Sheppard bounced around among bands and musical styles, from funk to fusion to pop rock.
The Quantico, Virginia native and self-described "army brat" eventually wound up in the band "Milkshake;" not a children's band but creators of rock music for children.
Milkshake's fourth album, "Great Day," is up for one of music's highest honors at this weekend's Grammy Awards. It's nominated in the Best Musical Album for Children category.
