ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) A Baltimore County delegate is urging state lawmakers to prohibit Maryland from recognizing gay marriages authorized by other states or countries. Del. Emmett C. Burns Jr. told a House committee Thursday the state needs to act quickly because Washington, D.C.'s city council passed a bill last month legalizing same-sex marriage.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) In response to complaints about the lack of access to information about state government decision making, dozens of Maryland lawmakers are signing on to legislation to increase the public's access. One change would eliminate an $800 fee to get up-to-the-minute information on developments in legislation.
