Just two days after unveiling his own budget proposals, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell will give tonight's Republican response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech.

Republican leaders tapped McDonnell to deliver their response to the President less than two weeks after McDonnell's own inauguration as governor.

McDonnell says his response, to be delivered in front of a crowd of 300 supporters and legislators in Richmond, will mention national and energy policy, but will focus on positive, pro-business and job creation ideas.

The new governor hardly lacks for problems to tackle in Virginia. He's in the midst of trying to gain support for his own slate of economic development proposals, initiatives he says will create more than 29,000 new jobs and boost state revenue by about $311 million in five years.
