In Annapolis, Maryland, the Board of Public Works is delaying it's vote on whether to approve a lease agreement for the National Sailing Hall of Fame and Museum.
The decision by the board on Wednesday puts the matter off until the next meeting of the group in three weeks.
The museum would be in downtown Annapolis on state property that is prominent waterfront land. The delay came when Comptroller Peter Franchot raised questions about what would happen to the museum, which would be run by a non-profit using donated money, should it fail to raise the necessary operating revenue.
Franchot moved to require in the lease agreement that the facility would be subject to local laws. Treasurer Nancy Kopp then asked to delay a vote to review the implications of the change in the lease.
