HAMPTON, Va. (AP) A lawsuit that claims Hampton police violated a couple's rights during a roadside search is moving from federal court to state court. The lawsuit claims Hampton police pulled over Mark Kendall and Amy Williamson in 2008 without a valid reason, and then forced the couple to undergo an invasive roadside search.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) Gov. Bob McDonnell plans to push ahead with his plan to get Virginia out of the retail liquor business. The Republican chief executive said during his first State of the Commonweath address last night that it has become clear to him that Virginians don't believe selling liquor at the retail level is a core function of state government.

STUARTS DRAFT, Va. (AP) A rocketry club says it's been unfairly barred from holding launches on a farm in Augusta County, but opponents claim the blasts scare their livestock. The Valley Aerospace Team is challenging a September decision by the county Board of Zoning Appeals that denied it a permit to hold the launches.
