On his way to the Virginia governor's mansion this weekend, Governor-elect Bob McDonnell is engaged in what he calls a week of service.
His most recent stop was at a homeless shelter in Alexandria. City leaders say there's plenty the state could be doing, starting with funding. But money is tight, and lawmakers say they are concerned about those who are most in need falling through the cracks.
McDonnell says private charities such as this one are going to have to pick up the slack.
