It's manna from heaven on the music scene this weekend and Monday, with a number of concerts in honor of Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr.

(January 17) AFRO BLUE AT ALL SOULS On Sunday Afro Blue out of Howard University appears at All Souls Unitarian Church off of 16th Street northwest, Sunday evening at 5 p.m. The group recently won Down Beat Magazine's Best College Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and joins in a celebration of the life and legacy of MLK.

(January 17) PETER MAYER AT ROCKVILLE UNITED Later Sunday night, Rockville United Church hosts singer/songwriter Peter Mayer at this house of prayer in Maryland at 7 p.m. In Rockville, when they're not busy worshippin,' they're rockin.'

(January 18) GOD-FATHER OF GO-GO And Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go makes his own heavenly appearance at National Cathedral this Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. The free performance features singing, dancing and celebration by the Urban H.I.P.-H.O.P Choir and the Heritage Signature Chorale, among many others.
