A Navy hospital ship based in Baltimore, Maryland, is leaving this weekend to assist victims of the earthquake in Haiti. This will be the biggest mission in the 900-foot ship's history.

The Navy is staffing the ship with 550 doctors, nurses and technicians from the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, for this mission. The ship will be configured to hold 250 beds and four operating rooms. At maximum capacity it can hold 1,000 beds and has 12 operating rooms.

The Navy hopes the ship will arrive in Haiti by January 22nd.
