McDonnell just completed a grueling 18-month campaign. He has four years of grueling governance ahead of him.
But now - for just a few days - it's time to party.
McDonnell is holding inaugural celebrations throughout Virginia this week, including this one in Arlington County.
In the past, the time between Election Day and the swearing-in was a much-needed vacation for the candidate. But not in today's political climate. "No, the frenzy really hasn't stopped," McDonnell says.
McDonnell says the first two weeks after the election were spent thanking his supporters, "And then you're spending the rest of the time reading the budget, learing about what's going on in every one of the agencies."
The celebrations continue throughout the week until Saturday, when McDonnell officially sworn in at the State Capitol in Richmond.
