People taking Metro's Red, Orange, and Blue lines on weekends and weeknights can expect delays through the month.
Metro says as crews complete scheduled maintenance work, passengers should plan on 20 to 30 minutes of additional travel time. From Sunday through Thursday nights, work will begin at 8 p.m. on the red line and 9:30 p.m. on the blue and orange lines, and will last until midnight on all lines.
On weekends, Metro says riders can expect to wait up to 20 minutes for a train. Most weekend work will run Friday nights through Sunday, but the Red line will see some continue through Monday.
Crews will be replacing rail fasteners along the red line between the Medical Center and Grosvenor stations, and along some parts of the blue and orange lines. They'll also be replacing concrete slabs under the rails between the Stadium-Armory and Addison Road stops on the blue line. Other plans include preliminary switch replacement work at the Rosslyn station.
