Police in Frederick, Md., say a homeless man tried to leave town in a stolen plane but crashed

Perhaps it was to mark the 106th anniversary of the Wright brothers first flight. Or maybe it was an ongoing dispute with gravity. But 51-year-old Calvin Cox allegedly tried to steal a single-engine plane from Frederick Municipal Airport. He attempted to take off but crashed the plane before ever leaving the ground. Frederick County police say a canine team found Cox in the woods after an airport worker reported the crash at 2:15 am Monday, they say Cox is familiar with planes but did not know how to operate one. Cox faces a bond hearing today on charges of felony theft, burglary, and trespass.
