People riding Metro's red and orange lines this weekend can expect delays due to scheduled maintenance work. On the red line, crews will be replacing rail fasteners that stabilize the tracks and making tunnel repairs between the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore Stations.
That work gets underway Friday Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. and will continue through midnight Sunday. Trains will share a single track through that area and Metro says passengers should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time as a result.
Meanwhile on the orange line, from 9:30 p.m. Friday through closing Sunday there will be delays of up to 30 minutes as trains share a track between the Stadium-Armory and Cheverly stations. Crews will be replacing some crossties and doing maintenance work on the aerial structure outside Stadium-Armory.
