A longtime neighborhood leader is appealing to Congress to block a gay marriage bill in D.C. Bob King sent letters to all Congress members, saying they should oppose a proposal to allow same-sex marriage in the District. The city council is expected to pass it this month.
King is part of a group called Stand4Marriage, which wants residents to vote on gay marriage. The city's board of elections ruled that would violate a city human rights law. Stand4Marriage has since filed a lawsuit.
King says he will meet with lawmakers and staff Thursday.
