Local Leaders Offer Safety Reminders For Halloween

As families gear up for Halloween, local governments are asking parents to be mindful of safety.

Lucile Bauer, a spokesperson for Maryland's Montgomery County, says there hasn't been a serious trick-or-treat-related incident in the county in several years. But, she says parents shouldn't be complacent.

"We never suggest that you go to a house without lights, nor take candy from a container that's just left outside the home " said Bauer. "And make sure that no candy is eaten until parents have a chance to inspect it."

Bauer also said all drivers and pedestrians should be particularly aware of children out and about this year.
