The city of Alexandria is getting federal money to combat gangs. The Department of Justice is giving the city $250,000 for its continuing efforts to slow down and curtail gang activity. The grant money will be used for several things including a program that removes tattoos from people trying to leave gangs. Funding will also go toward educating professionals in the field on trends in the region and on resources available to them.
