The producers of specialty foods in Virginia are being encouraged to introduce their products to the upscale Japanese market.
In advance of a trade show in March, the Southern United States Trade Association is partnering with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to take part in the international event that will be held in Tokyo. The deadline for registration is November 13. It will cost participants $1,200 to $1,500 for a booth, plus travel and accommodations.
State officials say products that would make good candidates for export to Japan include fruit juices, desserts, ready-to-eat meals, natural and organic products, frozen fruits, and vegetables, snack foods, and seafood.
