Virginia is reviving a loan program to finance energy efficiency projects by state agencies.
Gov. Tim Kaine says the state has obtained $40 million from the Energy Leasing program. The program had been inactive since late 2008 when its capital contracts expired.
Gov. Kaine says improving conditions in the financial markets allows the state to revive the loan program.
George Mason University in Fairfax will get the first loan. It will use $6.6 million for lighting, metering, and other upgrades at its main campus and the campus in Prince William county.
