Taxi drivers in D.C., 7,000 of them, are on strike until 6 p.m. today, in protest of some of Mayor Adrian Fenty's policies.
Larry Frankel of the Dominion of Cabdrivers was among those picketing in front of the Wilson Building. He says driver income has dropped 30 percent since Fenty replaced the zone fare system with time-and-distance meters.
The drivers also marched with groups rallying against the privatization of the city's child-care services.
Calls to the Mayor's office were not returned.
