Beltway In Virginia To Close Intermittently Overnight

The Capital Beltway near Tysons Corner in Virginia will be entirely closed at times overnight due to work on the Dulles Metro rail extension.

The work will start at midnight and go through 5 a.m. During that five hour window, all lanes of the Beltway will be closed several times for up to thirty minutes at a time at the Chain Bridge Road Interchange. The ramps to and from Chain Bridge Road will also be closed while work is ongoing.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says Dominion Virginia Power needs the highway to be shut down so it can relocate overhead power lines for the extension of Metrorail to Dulles airport.
