One Week In, No Leads In Silver Spring Murder

Play associated audio

Montgomery County police say they have come up empty in a Silver Spring murder investigation.

The body of 37-year-old Simone White, a native of Jamaica, was found outside her home at the Ashford at Woodlake Apartment complex early last Wednesday. Nearly a week later, Captain Patty Walker says police have no suspects. "Although investigators and patrol officers have worked tirelessly, we have been unable to identify the person responsible."

The nonprofit Victims' Rights Foundation is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of White's murderer. Her sister, Keisha Chaplain, traveled to Silver Spring from Jamaica to make a public appeal for information. Detectives are distributing posters with a picture and description of Simone White throughout the neighborhood.
